- Coughing
The dog may sure cough from time to time which can be due to a minor problem. Minor coughing doesn’t last for more than a few days. If your little one doesn’t stop to cough even after three days, the vet must be consulted immediately.
- Breathing problems
Changes in breathing relating to heart disease may include difficulty breathing due to shortness of breath, labored breathing, or rapid breathing.
- Behavior change
A sudden change in the behavior of the dog can be an indicator of heart disease. The dog may feel tired more easily, start to become less playful, may show reluctance to exercise and affection and also seem depressed and distant.
- Poor appetite in changes in weight
If not heart disease, a loss of appetite is always a symptom of something wrong. Whenever the dog suddenly stops to eat as much, experiences sudden gain or loss of weight, the vet needs to be consulted as these are some of the sure signs of a heart disease in your little one.
- Fainting and collapsing
If the dog faints or collapses at any time, seek veterinary help. It may be a sign of many different serious illnesses, heart disease being one of them.
Taking care if your little one also involves paying close attention to their habits and behavior as minor changes in them can help you know that there might be something terribly wrong. Seeking the help of the vet at the earliest and detecting an ailment can best be done when changes are noticed and immediately reported.
